- You can use Facetime, phone calls, text messages, or even discord to talk to the people you care about.
- Sanvello is an app that specialized in stress/anxiety management. Sanvello is offering free premium access during Covid-19.
- Psych Hub offers multiple videos that focus around several mental health issues, as well as partnering with several mental health organizations to focus on mental health during Covid-19.
- PsychologyTools offers tips on how to live with worry and anxiety during a global pandemic.
- CAPS offers Crisis Counseling virtually and in-person.
- If you call our office after hours and press 2 you will be able to speak to a live crisis counselor.
- If you prefer text messaging with a counselor, we recommend texting HOME to 741741 to quickly reach a counselor.
- The National Suicide Prevention hotline is always available 24/7 for free by calling 1-800-273-8255.
- Headspace is a meditation service that is currently free for residents of LA county.
- CPP Basic Needs Program has an ongoing list of resources including housing, financial and food.John Burton Advocates for Youth has created an excellent resource called "Income Benefits for College Students" to help students who are dealing with emergency needs. - The Employment Development Department is offering several support services to those who have lost their jobs due to the impact of Covid-19.
- The National Collegiate Athletic Association also has a webinar available that talks about Covid-19 and college athletes.
We encourage the use of digital media to reach out to friends and families. You can use Facetime, Zoom, Discord, Skype, Oovoo or Google's Duo. However, if you would like to reach out to others who might feel similarly to you we suggest the following resource:
- The National Alliance on Mental Illness hosts online discussion groups that can be joined through their website: http://www.nami.org/
- 7 cups offers FREE online text chat with a trained volunteer listener for emotional support and counseling.
- 7 cups also offers a free app for iOS and the Google Play Store.
- Psych Central offers online mental health services as well as online support services.
- Project Return is a peer support network that hosts several groups including LGBT+ processing groups, journal writings, groups that focus on empowerment and more.
- Maintain a normal routine that mirrors your normal schedule.
- Showering, changing your clothes, and taking breaks will help with the transition.
- Use different spaces for different activities: e.g., different rooms for work, play, and sleep. If space is limited, consider orienting yourself in a different direction for each activity – this helps break up your time visually.

- Connecting through face to face communication can satisfy the need for human contact.
