CIS Internships

About internships

Consistent with Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing approach to teaching, the CIS Department has a very active internship program coordinated by Professor Jill Miller (jtmiller@cpp.edu).

Intern students can be hired at any time of the year. Since Cal Poly Pomona is on a semester system, the preferred employment starting dates coincide with the beginning of a semester: August or January. The CIS 4410 & 4420 Internships classes are not offered during the summer session.

Want to add CIS 4410/4420 Internship Class for the Spring 2020 semester? Attend ONE mandatory introductory meeting in order to receive an add code(s). Time slots available are as follows:

- Tuesday 01/21/2020 10:30 am, 10:45 am and 11:00 am in my office at 164:3027

- Tuesday 01/28/2020 10:30 am, 10:45 am and 11:00 am in my office at 164:3027

You must already have a job with CIS-related duties that will last the entire Spring Semester. You will need to bring proof of your employment with you to the mandatory meeting (times shown above). CIS 4410 and 4420 do not count toward your CIS Advanced Electives units.

If adding the internship units causes you to exceed 20 units, you will need to submit a Petition to Exceed Unit Cap (see  http://www.cpp.edu/~registrar/files/public/forms/ExceedUnitCap.pdf ). The College of Business Administration Student Success Center will no longer accept these forms unless they have been electronically filled in and has your written signature. Please keep in mind that the Department Advisor and the Department Chair need to sign the form prior to submitting the form to the College of Business Administration Student Success Center.

Please check with the CBA Student Success Center on the deadline for submitting the form. The CBA Student Success Center recommends that the unit cap petition be turned in by 01/23/2020 to allow time to complete the process. After the form is fully approved, you will need to take it to the Registrar's Office to add the class by the add deadline of 02/03/2020.
