Recent professional activities:
Professor Young is a member of several associations and societies for lawyers, including the American Bar Association (International Law Section), State Bar of California (International Practice Section), American Society of International Law, Society for International Economic Law (SIEL), and the American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA).
As an ABILA member, he also serves as co-chair (with Roberto Aguirre Luzi, of King & Spaulding) of the highly regarded Bilateral Investment Treaty and Development Committee. Among other work, the Bilateral Investment Treaty and Investment Committee has presented three major conference panels: “International Investment Law” at International Law Weekend – West (Southwestern Law School, February 2011); “Preparing 21st Century Lawyers for Arbitration Under a New Generation of Investment Treaties” at International Law Weekend 2011 (Fordham Law School, October 2011); and “Bilateral Investment Treaties: Development and Co-Existence” at International Law Weekend (Fordham Law School, October 2010). The committee is now preparing to publish a monograph in 2012 based on its ILW 2011 panel presentations.
