Chen Shah welcomes students during event

Chalkboards are a thing of the past and a professor with Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Business Administration showcased new ways educators reach colleagues and industry as a featured panelist at a top digital marketing conference.

The Stukent Digital Summit has grown into a global attraction by offering innovative presentations useful for top educators. The spotlight turned to Marketing Management’s Lydia Chen Shah on March 1 when she became a cyber-panelist during the 2019 gathering.

Chen Shah’s "5 Engaging Projects for Your Digital Marketing Course" was a hashtag-filled trip from content creation to analyzing the effectiveness of an online advertisement campaign. Feedback from the presentation quickly spread to Twitter with comments like, “ Trying to figure out how to work a #dograincoat activity into class,” from a Bradley University professor.

In preparation for the 30-minute address, Chen Shah leaned on experiences gained through teaching a popular upper-division service learning course. Students relied heavily on social media while pitching marketing proposals to leaders from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. The goal was to help the organization reach a younger audience.

Chen Shah followed three other educators before handing the screen over to Radhika Duggal, head of student marketing for Chase. Stukent keeps an archive of all previous Digital Summits.
