Registration Process

Registering to take classes through Open University is a 3-step process:

  1. Fill out the online registration form
  2. Submit Online Petition
  3. Pay Tuition & Be Enrolled

CURRENT CAL POLY POMONA STUDENTS: Are you a current & matriculated Cal Poly Pomona student? If the answer is yes, this process does not apply to you. Contact the Bronco Advising Center to answer any of your enrollment questions.

1. Fill out the online registration form

  • This needs to be done every term you take classes
    • Select new student if you have never attended Open University or no longer have access to BroncoDirect.
    • Select returning student if you still have access to BroncoDirect.
  • If you do not currently have BroncoDirect access, you will receive an email in one business day with instructions on how to claim your account.

*Please note you will not be able to access or submit the online petition form without completing this step.

2. Submit Online Petition

Once you have BroncoDirect access & registration is open, submit your online petition form for the course(s) you wish to enroll in. Your petition will be electronically routed for all approvals.

  • Locate the class(es) you wish to take by going to
  • Verify that the class doesn't have a prerequisite by going to
    • Select “BroncoDirect/PeopleSoft for Student System” and login with the username and password you created in the first step.
      • Go to: Main Menu -> Self-Service -> Class Search/Catalog -> Class Search
    • From this portal, you can do a search by subject & term for the class you are looking for.
    • If the course does have a prerequisite, it is highly encouraged that you submit unofficial transcripts with your petition form to demonstrate you have met the prerequisites.
  • Complete the online petition form for the courses you wish to enroll in. The petition is then routed electronically for all required approvals. You will receive e-mail notifications when your requested courses are approved or denied.

3. Pay Tuition & Be Enrolled

After your course(s) have been approved, pay your fees, and CEU will enroll you.

  • A member of our team will calculate how much you owe and you will then be required to either pay in full online or sign up for a payment plan
  • You will be enrolled into your classes after you pay
  • Access to Blackboard will be given approximately 24 hours after you have been enrolled
