The Collins College Of Hospitality Management

Dean's Welcome

Welcome to The Collins College of Hospitality Management! The hospitality industry thrives throughout the world, especially at our home here in Southern California. At The Collins College, we not only educate students about this dynamic and growing industry, we prepare them to be its next generation of leaders.

Founded in 1973, The Collins College of Hospitality Management is the oldest and largest hospitality program in California. Consistently ranked among the nation's premier hospitality management programs at both the bachelor’s and master’s degree levels, The Collins College provides students with a superior education in a state-of-the-art facility, where theories and concepts are applied to real-world settings.

The Collins College has a diverse student body that is active inside and outside the classroom in an industry enhanced learning-centered environment. For example, students gain hands-on learning in the restaurant series courses at the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch, which is our student-managed and -operated restaurant open to the public. In addition, numerous student organizations allow students to interact with industry professionals, and our annual Hospitality Career Expo connects students with successful hospitality companies.

At The Collins College, students gain a solid academic education combined with focused practical experiences, using the best modern technology and facilities. The curriculum provides:

  • A strong emphasis on managing hospitality business operations
  • Operations and management learning laboratories
  • Real-world experience in learning how to run profitable hospitality enterprises
  • Opportunities for work experience and internships in the hospitality industry in the region and beyond

The Collins College students benefit from the expertise of the faculty, who are active in research, publishing and consulting. Our faculty have held top positions in all areas of the industry including: hotel, resort, club, beverage sales, travel and tourism, marketing, law, casino, and restaurant management. This wide array of expertise provides a curriculum that is grounded in real-world application, so as students enter the workforce they are prepared to be productive leaders.

In order to keep academic programs cutting edge, The Collins College maintains strong partnerships with industry leaders. These partnerships provide financial support that bolster the college's overall success and adds an important context to the education we offer. The Collins College Board of Advisors, for example, is comprised of nearly 50 leading hospitality executives who provide input to help us maintain programs that are responsive to industry trends and advances.

I invite you to visit The Collins College of Hospitality Management, learn more about our stellar programs, and plan to stay for lunch or dinner at the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch. I hope you will be impressed with what we have to offer, and I look forward to visiting with you soon.
