University Operations-Graduate Studies Office Operations for Fall 2021

Dear Graduate Students,

I hope this finds you safe and well. As you are aware by now, the University has transitioned several of its services to both virtual and in-person modes. Beginning Aug. 2nd, we will enter Phase 3/Safely Together, with staff returning to in-person and hybrid working schedules.  For more information on Cal Poly Pomona’s Safer Return to Campus Plan and the latest updates, please visit: https://www.cpp.edu/safer-return/index.shtml. The Graduate Studies Office business hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm (we are located in Bldg. 121, 1st floor, Orange Counter). You can reach the Graduate Studies Office at gradstudies@cpp.edu, or contact us if you have any questions or need to schedule an appointment.   You may have many questions, and your advisors and graduate coordinators should be your first stop to answer questions. You can find a list of graduate coordinators. The Fall 2021 Semester will also present opportunities with different instruction modes for your courses.  We encourage you to review your Bronco Direct Class Details for additional information and contact the class instructor directly if you have questions about a class. You may also access E-Student and In-Person Services through the Bronco Advising Center for general questions on financial aid, registration, or academic holds.

The Graduate Studies Office is the office that processes your programs of study, graduate academic petitions, and receives thesis and project signatures before graduation for most programs. We would like to make you aware of the following changes to these three processes:

  1. Programs of study:  Contracts are usually due by the 6th week of the second term of attendance, but if you haven’t turned in a contract by then, a registration hold will be placed in your account. Please consult with your graduate coordinator or academic advisor on filing your program of study via PolyDoc.
  2. Graduate Academic Petition: You can  file a graduate academic petition to request to make modifications to your program of study, request to transfer coursework, change your status, or request a waiver residency via Polydoc.
  3. Thesis and Project Signatures: Most programs require the submission of thesis and project reports or abstracts to the library. We are currently using Docusign for students to submit their culminating experience and obtain electronic signatures. More information is available here.

I would like to stress that we are here to help you go through your studies in the best possible and seamless manner. If you have any questions or you think I can be of help, please don’t hesitate to contact me or our Graduate Studies Analyst Rebecca Rivas (rrivas1@cpp.edu). You may also contact the Graduate Resource Center for assistance. We will do our best to address your concerns.  We wish you the best during this time of transition.

Please keep safe.
