Masks & Cloth Face Coverings

  • Wearing a mask or cloth face covering can slow the spread of COVID-19 by limiting the release of virus into the air. It’s important and sometimes required to wear a face covering when interacting with others who are not members of your household in public and private spaces. Face coverings should be used in conjunction with staying six feet from others. Some people should not wear face coverings, for example children under age 2 and anyone who has trouble breathing. For a list of those who should not wear a mask click here.
  • A mask is only effective if it covers your nose, mouth, and chin
Here are some tips for putting on a face covering:
  • First, wash your hands
  • Put the mask over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin
  • It should fit snugly against the sides of your face
  • Make sure you can breathe easily
Here are some tips for removing your face covering:
  • Handle only by the ear loops or ties
  • Fold outside corners together
  • Be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth when removing and wash hands immediately after removing.
  • Place covering in the washing machine (learn more about how to wash cloth face coverings)
