Learning Assistant Program
The MSTI Program recruits talented Biology and Mathematics majors to provide tutoring and/or support for their peers as well as facilitate small-group interaction in large enrollment courses and/or labs. The Biology Learning Assistant in-person tutoring takes place in the Biology Learning Center in building 4, first floor, room 403 and virtual tutoring takes place via zoom.
Learning Assistants are paid a modest stipend to work approximately 8 hours per week. The main goal of the Learning Assistant Program is to increase the number of science graduates who pursue a career in teaching high school math and science classes. Learning Assistants who decide to pursue a teaching career are eligible to apply to the MSTI Scholarship Program (Scholarships up to $5000 per year).
