Electric Cart Information

Be certain to review all policies, procedures and guidelines for the reservation and usage of the Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement's electric carts prior to submitting your reservation request.

All drivers must be authorized to drive on university business. If you are uncertain of your authorization to drive on university business, please contact Risk Management before submitting a reservation request. Driver authorization will be verified by the Office of New Student Program & Family Engagement. Please note that per Risk Management only Cal Poly Pomona employees in active, state-funded pay status (including student assistants) or a person on volunteer status may be authorized to drive on University business. The campus may not authorize others to drive on University business, such as students, or any non-state employee (including employees of the Cal Poly Pomona auxiliary organizations).

Usage Policy

The Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement's electric carts are owned and maintained by the Division of Student Affairs. The Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement has first priority for electric carts. Additionally, the departments/programs/events listed below have priority during the indicated time frames:

  • Office of Student Life and Cultural Centers (May)
  • Commencement (mid-May)
  • Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement (June - August)
  • CPP Fest (late August - October)

Campus departments may request to reserve the electric carts on a first-come, first-served basis, via the Electric Cart Reservation Form on this page.

Reservation Procedures

  1. Complete and submit the Electric Cart Reservation Form at least 5 business days in advance to allow time for driver verification, scheduling, and reservation follow-up.
  2. Our team will contact you to confirm and/or discuss your reservation. If you submit a request and do not receive a response within 2 business days, please feel free to email us to follow-up.
  3. If approved, bring your Bronco Card to the Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement located in Building 121, West, Room 1730, to check out the key and parking gate remote control on your reserved date and time.
  4. Email us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or make changes to an existing reservation.
  5. Carts are parked in the lot closest to the Student Services Building.
  6. When your reservation is complete, park the cart, remove all personal items, sanitize interior surfaces, and plug in to an outlet to charge. Return the key and parking gate remote control to the Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement to receive your Bronco Card. If you use the cart over a weekend or holiday, return the cart no later than 8:00 a.m. on the next business day.

Usage Guidelines

  • All electric cart drivers MUST be authorized by the Risk Management to drive on university business. Be certain that all drivers listed on the request form are authorized drivers. Driver authorization status will be verified. Please note that per Risk Management guidelines, only Cal Poly Pomona employees in active, state-funded pay status (including student assistants) or a person on volunteer status may be authorized to drive on University business. The campus may not authorize others to drive on University business, such as students, or any non-state employee (including employees of the Cal Poly Pomona auxiliary organizations). 
  • Carts must be parked in an electric vehicle parking space and plugged in to charge at the end of your use.
  • Cart interiors must be sanitized at the end of your reservation. Wipes and hand sanitizer are provided in the cart.
  • Remove all personal items from the carts when returning them.
  • Abide by all campus COVID-19 guidelines when using the carts.
  • Each cart will be scheduled for maintenance for one week during April and October and will not be available for use during this time.
  • Contact the Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement at 909-869-3604 during business hours if problems, deficiencies, unsafe conditions and/or new damage are noticed while inspecting or driving the carts.
  • If the cart is not working, call 909-869-3030 for a tow to the Campus Auto Shop. If you have a problem over the weekend, report it first thing the next business day.
  • If keys or gate remote controls are lost during your use, you will be responsible for replacement cost.
    • Remote control replacement: $15.00
    • Key replacement: $10.00

Temporary Offline Notice

  • Please be informed that New Student Programs & Family Engagement is currently unable to accept cart reservation requests during orientation season. Cart reservations will resume on September 1, 2023.
