Dia De Los Muertos
With more people observing the holiday, it is our goal to share the tradition and keep its integrity at the heart of the celebration. “Day of the Dead” has roots indigenous cultures and beliefs and is celebrated in the month of November. Celebrants make ofrendas, or offerings, to the spirits of loved who have died and place them on the community altar. This program is collaboration between the César E. Chávez Center for Higher Education and the Ethnic and Women's Studies Department (Dr. Cadena’s academic class/students). The Dia de los Muertos Celebration has become an anticipated feastivity and an opportunity for the entire community to come together in celebration of life.
