OUR Grad Banner

The OUR GRAD Program recognizes that for students to move from undergraduate to graduate school, engagement in undergraduate research is a necessity. In addition to offering multiple opportunities for students to engage in, get involved with research programs and labs, and present research on the Cal Poly Pomona’s campus, the OUR is taking its commitment to aiding students' advance in academia with the OUR GRAD Program.

The OUR GRAD Program is designed to prepare CPP students for the rigor of graduate applications through a series of workshops, campus events, and involvement in the OUR’s bi-annual student conference and symposia (RSCA Conference and CARS) to showcase their work as part of a scholarly community. Through the OUR Grad Program students will get hands-on experience researching and selecting graduate programs, taking the General Graduate Records Examination (GRE), and have opportunities to write and revise personal statements and statements of purpose. While the coursework offered at CPP prepares students to be competitive academically for graduate programs, the OUR GRAD Program prepares students for the application process itself in addition to helping them with the transition from undergraduate to graduate student.

  • We recommend students who are freshman through junior standing with the intent to attend graduate programs to apply. Students who are in senior standing must meet with an advisor and create a work plan to be considered. Any student is welcome to attend the workshops regardless of program acceptance.
  • Once accepted into the OUR GRAD Program, student should be in good standing (attending 7 or more workshops) before applying for fee waivers.
  • A student must still be enrolled in CPP as an undergraduate student upon completion of the requirements of the program.
  • Students from all majors and colleges at CPP are welcome to apply.
