Office of the President

Appointment of Susan Hua as Interim AVP for Institutional Equity and Compliance

October 2, 2018

In follow up to my message on Sept. 17 regarding the departure of Linda Hoos for a new role in the CSU Chancellor’s Office, I am pleased to announce that Susan Hua will be joining Cal Poly Pomona as the Interim Assistant Vice President for Institutional Equity and Compliance, effective Oct. 22. In this role, Susan will oversee the renamed Office of Institutional Equity & Compliance, which reflects the breadth of her responsibilities in assuring the university’s commitment to equity and opportunity, including serving as Cal Poly Pomona’s Title IX Coordinator.

We are extremely fortunate to have Susan join our campus as she brings with her extensive experience in equity and inclusion programs. She comes to Cal Poly Pomona from CSUN with nearly eight years of experience in the CSU as a Title IX Coordinator, Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation (DHR) Administrator; ADA Coordinator; Interim Chief Diversity Officer and Director for the Office of Equity and Diversity. Given her expertise, I am confident that Susan will provide excellent stewardship to the campus and to the Office of Institutional Equity & Compliance.

Prior to CSUN, Susan worked in various capacities promoting social justice in both public and private organizations, including litigating cases on behalf of California hospitals; prosecuting criminal consumer fraud cases; developing a county-wide implementation plan and research study for the early intervention and support of children with learning disabilities; and teaching a law curriculum to low-income high school students to advance community empowerment. Susan holds a Juris Doctor degree from UCLA, a Master of Arts degree in educational leadership and policy studies from CSUN, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from USC.

Please join me in welcoming Susan to the Cal Poly Pomona Family.
