University Programs: College of Engineering’s Student Ambassador program events coordinator and program lead, Staff Council and Engineering Council volunteer

Chelsea Christine Duran is committed to community building and is motivated by the Master’s in Public Administration program’s emphasis on positive change. Her studies strengthened the importance of advocacy, and Drs. Laureen Hom, Mohsen Moayedi and Beverly Speak inspired Chelsea through their knowledge, accessibility and encouragement. Chelsea is involved in her student community by promoting educational opportunities that build connections and create an inclusive environment. She also provided her expertise during iPoly’s Career Day by sharing her experience in sports marketing for an NFL team and media assistance with the Roggin’s Heroes program. The first in her family to obtain a degree, Chelsea’s career goal is to be a CSU administrator, eventually pursuing her doctorate. “My motivation for graduating is knowing there are others out there that have been told they can’t. The sooner I graduate, the sooner I can begin the work to bring up others behind me. I am so grateful for the support and want to give back to the system that has given so much to me,” she says.
