University Programs: Supplemental instruction facilitator for both Maximizing Engineering Potential and Learning Resource Center programs, Sigma Gamma Tau National Aerospace Engineering Honors Society treasurer, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics

Yahia Haggag chose his aerospace engineering major because of his lifelong curiousity about the science behind flying. “Knowing the details of the aviation world unfolds its mysteries and encourages me to learn more. I would love to use this knowledge in the future by applying it in the aviation field to work on making flying safer,” he says. Yahia feels fortunate to collaborate with his professors and with industry professionals in projects like the Northrop Grumman Collaboration Project where he serves as chief engineer. The first STEM major graduate in his family, Yahia’s motivation to graduate is his parent’s dedication to hard work, which drives him to set an example for his younger siblings. He plans to pursue graduate degrees to support his goals to work in aeronautical safety and to inspire others through teaching. “This scholarship will allow me to take a step closer to focusing more on my studies.”
