Elise Levesque

Rinehart Family President’s Scholar (Graduate)

Regenerative Studies

College of Environmental Design

Backpacking and working on farms in South America, Elise Levesque respected and appreciated the connection between these communities and their food. That led to her passion for food production and solutions for restoring earth systems affected by human population. As a President’s Scholar at Cal Poly Pomona, Elise studies in one of the country’s only Master of Science in Regenerative Studies programs. While attending classes remotely, she is committed to applying what she has learned to her local community in Seattle, where she serves as a food access coordinator. Her organization connects city residents with small regional farmers, who are compensated fairly and encouraged to use environmentally restorative practices. “I truly feel connected to my cohort, my professors and my program in the College of Environmental Design,” says Elise, who initially hesitated to apply for this funding because of her remote location. “I view my experience at CPP thus far as one of the most special silver linings. I deeply appreciate the recognition and support from the President’s Scholarship.”
