Daniel Victor Romero

Shelton Family President’s Scholar

Major: Civil Engineering

College of Engineering

University Programs: Steel Bridge Club, Bronco Pep Band, Symphonic Winds, and the Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity, Kellogg Honors College

Daniel Victor Romero’s participation in Steel Bridge Club has been his most meaningful extracurricular activity because of its emphasis on teamwork. The countless hours of work, preparation, and practice to bring the steel bridge to its final form helped him understand the importance of collaboration, and he values the lifelong friendships he has formed. He is interested in civil engineering because of its direct effects on the public, saying “to help my community, I realized that all people use infrastructure that a civil engineer has made. I am motivated to work in the field and to inspire the younger members of my family to pursue a college education.” His work with the Kellogg Honors College includes volunteering at City of Pomona events and local food pantries. He currently works as a student intern at the Riverside County Transportation Department. Daniel’s ideal job is working as an environmental engineer where he can apply concepts of water and its treatment, and plans to pursue a master’s degree and work in the public sector.
