Subject: A Message for Our Cal Poly Pomona Staff

Dear Colleagues,

As we work together to address the challenges related to COVID-19, we wanted to let you know how much we appreciate and recognize the contributions of our dedicated staff. This situation we are in is fluid and rapidly changing. We want to assure you that we are actively preparing for the possibility of moving to remote work and coordinating closely with the CSU Office of the Chancellor.

Given the current status, we also want to make sure you have the information you need during this period of uncertainty and share the importance of taking care of yourself as well. We are working hard to respond to the many questions and requests that have come forward.

The temporary pause in instruction and transition to virtual modes of instruction announced by President Coley last evening present a unique array of challenges and issues for our campus community. While no cases of COVID-19 are presently linked to Cal Poly Pomona, we are pursuing the strategy of “social distancing” to dramatically decrease the number of people and the likely spread through person to person contact on campus.

We want to take this opportunity to clarify the current expectations of staff:

  • The campus remains open, and staff should report to work unless there is an approved temporary work arrangement on file with Employee/Labor Relations.
  • There may be circumstances in which reporting to campus for work may not be advisable. Please contact the Office of Employee/Labor Relations at elr@cpp.edu to discuss temporary work arrangements.
  • For those in need of additional support resources, staff, their dependents, and permanent household members may contact CPPLifeMatters by Empathia.. CPPLifeMatters is available on a live basis, 24 hours a day/7days a week at (800) 367-7474 and https://www.cpp.edu/employee-assist/index.shtml.
  • National mitigation efforts related to COVID-19 are changing swiftly. For the latest updates on our institutional response, please regularly visit our Health Alert website. We have also set up a dedicated email account (healthalert@cpp.edu) to efficiently respond to any questions.

We will continue to communicate relevant and updated information to you.  Please continue to care for yourself and one another.
