Subject: New Guidelines Regarding Updated Event Guidance

Dear Student Organization members:

In alignment with President Coley’s announcement of our temporary move to remote instruction for the first three weeks of the spring semester, starting on January 22nd with a return to in-person instruction on February 12, we need to share additional information about expectations with you as members of a registered student organization at Cal Poly Pomona.

Last week, we notified you that all in-person gatherings (on or off campus) of any size affiliated, hosted, or coordinated by the university, students, clubs, organizations, and members of the Fraternity & Sorority Life community are prohibited until February 12, 2022. As a result, all gatherings should be offered in a virtual format or rescheduled for later in the semester if it necessitates being in person. In addition, the campus has determined that no events with over 200 guests, on or off campus, will be permitted until Monday, February 28, 2022.

Guidelines are in effect to foster a safe learning environment during the pandemic. We recommend reviewing the University's Safer Return website for critical updates and the COVID-19 Compliance Guidelines developed by the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity. In addition, we encourage you to review the Reporting Guide for Positive COVID-19 Test for students on the Safer Return website. The campus will continue to monitor state and local updates regarding vaccine eligibility and post information to the Safer Return website.

The Office of Student Life & Cultural Centers is committed to partnering to support Recognized Student Organizations in transitioning back to in-person events while ensuring safe campus practices. We invite your partnership in this process, as it will take all of us, working collaboratively, to slow the spread of COVID-19. Please email oslcc@cpp.edu if you need assistance modifying your reservation.

If you have questions or need other resources, please contact the Office of Student Life & Cultural Centers at oslcc@cpp.edu.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Tari Hunter
Director, Office of Student Life & Cultural Centers
