Dear Cal Poly Pomona community,

Happy new year! We hope you and your loved ones had a peaceful holiday and are staying safe and well. As COVID-19 continues to surge in Southern California, our hearts go out to all those whose health and lives have been impacted by the virus.

As we start 2021, we want to make you aware of changes to public health orders, specifically around travel. It is critical that we continue to follow required safety protocols and not let our guard down in these next few months.

Updates and reminders about campus operations and health orders:

  1. Avoid non-essential travel. If you have traveled outside of Southern California, you are required to quarantine for 10 days upon your return, according to LA County’s “Safer at Home” mandatory directive on travel.
  2. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with the virus, do not go to campus or engage in in-person activities. For faculty and staff, pre-approval from your vice president is required before coming to campus. To limit the number of people coming to campus, on-campus work schedules may be adjusted, and managers will contact faculty and staff directly if changes are necessary. If you have questions, please discuss them with your HEERA manager. Refer to the announcement about restricted campus access from Dec. 18, 2020 through at least Feb. 8, 2021.
  3. The campus’ critical operations continue, including the Student Health Center, Counseling & Psychological Services, Bronco Bookstore and campus dining. Visit the Safer Return website to see the list of offices and services available virtually and in person.
  4. Do not attend gatherings with others outside of your household. Consider testing for COVID-19 if you have engaged in high-risk activities.

We appreciate all that you have done in the past 10 months to support one another. We will continue to rely on each other during this difficult time with the hope that brighter days are ahead of us.
