Subject: New Stay-At-Home Order and Travel Advisory

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:

We are writing to you because during the Fall 2020 semester, you are participating in in-person teaching/learning activities on-campus or off-campus.

The past few months have been challenging for all of us, and the recent unprecedented rise in COVID-19 cases across our county and state is of concern. We are grateful to you for your diligence and commitment to adhering to safety protocols designed to keep you and those around you safe.

We want to make sure you are aware of California’s new “limited stay-at-home order,” as well as resources for staying safe during the holiday season.

We urge you to observe the health regulations and safety practices that are critical to limiting the virus’ spread. The California Department of Public Health has a new webpage that provides tips for a healthier holiday season, including:

  • Wear a mask when you are out in public
  • Stay at least 6 feet away from others who are not in your household
  • Avoid indoor gatherings with other households

State health officials recommend staying at home during the holidays and forgoing non-essential travel. If your travel is essential, you should quarantine for 14 days after returning and limit your interactions to only the people in your immediate household. Upon your return, please continue to review the checklist before coming to campus and complete the employee or student health screener.

Let us take this opportunity to remind you that if you feel sick or receive a positive test for COVID-19, please seek care immediately from your medical provider. Do not attend in-person activities or come to campus. Students can contact Student Health (909-869-4000) or their healthcare provider. Faculty and staff should contact their primary care physician or health care provider.

We appreciate your diligence and your commitment to keeping our Cal Poly Pomona campus and local communities safe. Thank you for your care and concern for others. We wish you a safe and peaceful holiday week.

Sincerely,
