Subject: Now Available: Cal Poly Pomona HEERF III Emergency Grants

Dear Students,

We recognize that you may have experienced challenges over the past year as the pandemic disrupted nearly every aspect of daily life. In addition to changes to course delivery and campus activities, for some, COVID-19 also led to the loss of loved ones, income and/or added expenses to travel, technology and other needs.

We are writing to let you know of an additional opportunity for financial assistance, and we strongly encourage you to pursue it.

How to Apply for Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF)
You may be eligible to receive financial assistance from the federal government. HEERF III is a new round of funding authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act of that provides emergency assistance to college students.

HEERF III Emergency Grants can range from $500 - $3,000 depending on your individual circumstances. The grant may be used for any component of your cost of attendance, or for emergency costs due to COVID-19, such as tuition, fees, past-due balance, housing, food, books and healthcare. Even if you previously received a HEERF Emergency Grant, you may still be eligible to receive a HEERF III Emergency Grant, but you must file a new request.

All students who have faced financial challenges due to the pandemic are encouraged to apply.

To be considered, you must fill out a HEERF Emergency Grant Request no later than December 17, 2021.

Fund requests will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The review process will take approximately two to three weeks. You can find additional information on the HEERF III website

While not a requirement, we also encourage students to complete the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or CA Dream Application. The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships website has more information about these applications.

If you have additional questions, please email covidgrants@cpp.edu. Jeanette Phillips, Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships, and her team will be happy to assist you.
