Safer Return at Cal Poly Pomona

Staying Safe During Spring Break

Date: March 27, 2020

Subject: Staying Safe During Spring Break

Dear Students:

The past few weeks have been an unprecedented time at Cal Poly Pomona. In a short time, our academic environment has shifted to virtual instruction, and our typically active campus is now quiet in adherence to social distancing guidelines. I know I speak for everyone when I say I miss being amongst you on campus.

With Spring Break beginning March 28th, I wanted to offer some important guidance given the COVID-19 pandemic. Spring Break often entails travel to other parts of the state, country and world for our students, and in light of the evolving situation, CPP offers the following guidance.

  • Follow Governor Newsom’s Stay at Home order, which states all individuals living in California must stay home or in their place of residence, except for essential needs (such as food, medical care/prescriptions, and laundry).
  • Students are strongly encouraged to cancel all non-essential travel.
    • Students traveling to states where COVID-19 escalates should be prepared for possible travel restrictions or requirements for quarantine both in the state where they are visiting and/or here in California when they return.
    • Students who travel to countries with widespread or sustained COVID-19 infections may be subject to certain requirements upon return to the US.

Follow CDC guidelines on taking steps to protect you and those you live with to help slow the spread of the virus.

I hope you can use Spring Break to take a break from classes and relax. Students have had to make many personal and academic adjustments, and I thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding as we navigate this public health challenge. In times like these, we cannot lose our sense of community. Each of us in the Bronco family are learning and adapting together.

Sincerely,
 Eileen
