Dear Student Employees,

Last week, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) confirmed that individuals working in the education sector will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination beginning March 1. Student employees at Cal Poly Pomona are part of the education sector and will be eligible to receive the vaccine.

As vaccine supply and distribution plans are dynamic and evolving, the Safer Return Task Force is sharing an email update to help clarify the impact to our Cal Poly Pomona community, based current information available. We will continue to post updates and FAQs on the Safer Return webpage on vaccines.

According to LACDPH and consistent state priority guidelines, individuals working in the education sector will be eligible on March 1. It is important to note that the vaccine supply is still very limited, and even eligible individuals will not be able to immediately secure an appointment. The county anticipates that vaccine supply will ramp up in the coming weeks and months.

To search for an appointment, you can visit the state’s My Turn website (https://myturn.ca.gov/) and select Cal Poly Pomona or a vaccination center close to your residence. (Currently, San Bernardino, Orange and Riverside counties are vaccinating the education sector, and Los Angeles and Ventura counties will make it available to this group on March 1.) You can also visit the LA County Public Health website or visit CPP’s vaccine info webpage to find information and additional vaccination centers in your county.

Your photo ID and paycheck (paystub) can be used to verify your employment at Cal Poly Pomona. For more information about employment verification, please read the FAQs on the Safer Return website.

Cal Poly Pomona is currently hosting a vaccination hub, supported by a consortium of health organizations and led by Kaiser Permanente, and appointments are listed My Turn. Please note that the university does not manage the hub’s operations, and as an open and public vaccination center, prioritization for Cal Poly Pomona employees is not currently available. The university will continue to pursue partnerships with Kaiser, the county and other organizations that benefit our campus community.

For more information about vaccine eligibility, go to the Safer Return website for additional details and FAQs. In addition, you may also visit the county’s Vaccine Distribution webpage.
