Safer Return at Cal Poly Pomona

UPDATE: Supporting Our International Students and Scholars

Subject: UPDATE: Supporting Our International Students and Scholars

Dear Bronco Community,

Cal Poly Pomona has received news that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) rescinded its July 6 requirement that international students in the United States with F-1 visas cannot be enrolled in only online courses. This is great news for our international students!

The CSU Chancellor’s Office has confirmed that, the federal administration’s decision means colleges and universities revert back to the previous federal guidance, issued on March 13, 2020. The March guidance applied only to continuing students and allowed them to enroll in online courses in spring and summer 2020. As soon as we get more information about the fall 2020 requirement from the federal government and guidance for incoming international students, we will update our campus community.

In the meantime, we are pleased that international students will be able to take online courses in the fall. We remain committed to staying in close communication with our international students.

Sincerely,

Sylvia A. Alva, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President Academic Affairs

Christina Gonzales,
