Safer Return at Cal Poly Pomona

Update on Plans for Fall 2020

Date: June 8, 2020
From: Provost - Vice President of Academic Affairs
Subject: Update on Plans for Fall 2020

Dear Cal Poly Pomona Students,

As you know, Chancellor Timothy White announced last month that all 23 CSU campuses would prepare for instruction to be conducted virtually during the upcoming fall semester. Immediately following Chancellor White’s announcement, President Coley laid out our operational planning in a message to campus. We are writing to provide an update on our campus-wide plans for the fall semester.

Underlying each of the updates listed below, please know that we are guided by our commitment to protect the health and wellbeing of our campus community, as well as our commitment to provide an educational experience that lives up to our standards and legacy as a university and is reflective of our inclusive polytechnic approach.

  • Fall 2020 will be virtual. The fall 2020 schedule is being updated with the specific mode of virtual instruction for each course. If you are a continuing student and want to adjust your schedule, general registration runs through June 12. If you are an incoming student, you will receive more information and advising during your Orientation Virtual Advising & Registration Day.
  • We are continuing to plan and strategize. To ensure that new and continuing students have a positive experience and can engage fully in virtual and online education we have developed several strategies and initiatives to continue to support the entire Bronco community. Faculty and staff from across the university are working hard this summer. One workgroup is focused on the student experience with input from Associated Students, Inc. student leaders and students across a range of majors.
  • We will communicate with you throughout the summer. We know that you have many follow-up questions, and we are working on solutions and resources. We will share more updates ahead of the fall term.

We also take this opportunity to remind you that the breadth of support services, such as health and wellbeing and campus community engagement, are open and accessible to all students during the summer and throughout the academic year. Details are available at: https://www.cpp.edu/student-affairs/covid19.shtml.

Thank you for your patience and support as we strive as a campus community to achieve the mission and vision of Cal Poly Pomona.

Sincerely,
