Subject: Updated Event Guidance for Registered Student Organizations
Dear Student Organization members:
In alignment with President Coley’s announcement of our temporary move to remote instruction for the first three weeks of the spring semester, starting on January 22 with a return to in-person instruction on February 12, we need to share critical information about expectations with you as members of a registered student organization at Cal Poly Pomona.
All in-person gatherings (on or off campus) of any size affiliated, hosted, or coordinated by the university, students, clubs, organizations, and members of the Fraternity & Sorority Life community are prohibited until February 12, 2022. We recognize the challenges virtual instruction brings to maintaining community, but we encourage you to continue to hold meetings and events in the virtual space. We are eager to return to in-person instruction, and by taking this temporary measure, we are hopeful we can lessen the risk to our community.
Guidelines are in effect to foster a safe learning environment during the pandemic. We recommend reviewing the University's Safer Return website for critical updates and the COVID-19 Compliance Guidelines developed by the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity. In addition, we encourage you to review the Reporting Guide for Positive COVID-19 Test for students on the Safer Return website. The campus will continue to monitor state and local updates regarding vaccine eligibility and post information to the Safer Return website.
As we continue to navigate change, it is important for everyone to understand that we are in this together. We must all be committed to protecting our community’s health and personal well-being. We want you to know we are committed to partnering to support Recognized Student Organizations in transitioning back to in-person events while ensuring safe campus practices. We invite your partnership in this process, as it will take all of us, working collaboratively, to slow the spread of COVID-19.
