Dear Broncos,

The start of the new academic year is just one week away, and to help you prepare for fall semester, we are sharing important Safer Return announcements and reminders.

Online Health Screener

Every day you come to campus, fill out the online Health Screener prior to your arrival. The screener will ask whether you’re experiencing COVID-related symptoms, had a close contact and other questions. If you are feeling sick, do not come to campus and do not attend in-person activities.

Students living on campus (University Housing, Village, animal units) are required to fill out the Health Screener every day.

Students and employees who participate in university activities off-campus (research, co-op, internships) also must complete the Health Screener.

Online Training

A new version of the university’s required COVID-19 Training for students, faculty and university staff will be released by Aug. 19. Please take the 25 to 30 minutes to complete the online module. Even if you have completed a prior training, this new module is required for all students and employees to complete by Sept. 30, 2021.

Weekly Public Health Testing

Beginning Monday, Aug. 16, all students and employees will be required to participate in weekly testing for COVID-19. Individuals who have uploaded their vaccination record via MyHealthPortal will be exempt from weekly testing.

You are required to test weekly if your record is not uploaded and verified. Those with a medical or religious exemption to vaccination are required to participate in weekly testing.

Each week, you will receive an email to schedule an appointment for testing on campus. If you come to campus any time during the week — Sunday through Saturday — you must complete your test by Friday of that week.

The Public Health Testing Site will be located at the CLA Paseo, between the CLA Tower and Voorhis Park. Starting Aug. 16, it will be open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. (first appointment) to 4:30 p.m. (last appointment).

Details and FAQs about the testing process may be found on Safer Return’s Testing webpage.

Upload Your Vaccination Record This Week

We’re proud to share that nearly half our campus community has already uploaded their vaccination record to MyHealthPortal! If you’re vaccinated, don’t delay in uploading your record. It takes just 5 minutes to upload an image of your CDC vaccination card. Other forms of documentation are accepted as long as it includes your name, birthdate, type of vaccine and date(s) of administration.

If you are experiencing technical difficulties with the record upload process, email myhealthportal@cpp.edu.

Vaccine Requirement

The best protection against COVID-19 is to become fully vaccinated (2 weeks after completing a two-dose series or single-dose vaccine). We urge you to Join the Herd and please get vaccinated to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community.

By Aug. 16, if you have not uploaded your vaccination record and are accessing campus facilities and programs, you will be required to participate in weekly testing. Those with a medical or religious exemption to vaccination are required to participate in weekly testing.

By Sept. 30, if students* have not uploaded their vaccination record or requested a medical or religious exemption, they may face disciplinary action, per CSU policy. [*Updated on 8/13 to reflect the policy applies to students, not represented employees.]

Visit the Vaccine Info page for details about the requirement and deadlines.

Vaccine Pop-Up Clinics

Later this month, our campus will host several pop-up vaccine clinics open to everyone — students, employees, their families and members of the community. We plan to hold clinics during move-in day for housing, Welcome Week and the first full week of fall semester. More pop-up clinics may be scheduled throughout the semester.

Keeping You Healthy and Safe

A final note about the university’s many strategies to keep you safe. Because no single solution is 100 percent effective in preventing COVID-19, we are implementing multiple strategies to keep our campus healthy and safe.

We urge you to familiarize yourself with our Health and Safety Plan, which includes:

Each strategy reflects evolving state and local public health orders, scientific recommendations, best practices and local conditions. Combined, they will improve the safety of our campus and communities.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prepare for a new year together. As the pandemic and our protocols evolve, we will continue to share updates through the weekly Safer Return News email and the Safer Return website. Be safe, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
