Elusive Earths and Other Matters: Taking the Galactic Exoplanet Census
by Jessie Christiansen (IPAC Caltech)
The NASA Kepler mission was a space-based survey for transiting exoplanets. While the data are all in hand, the final analysis of the final, full dataset is still underway. I will present our ongoing efforts to catalogue the exoplanets in the Kepler field, including characterising the survey completeness and reliability. The latter are needed in order to infer the underlying planet population from the planet detections - I summarise the progress in the field towards robust occurrence rates, and lay out the path forward for Kepler and future exoplanet surveys.
