Dark Matter Search with DarkSide Project

Since first proposed in the 1930s, the existence of dark matter has been confirmed by a series of astronomical observations and cosmological researches. Latest data from cosmic microwave background shows that 26 percent of current universe is made of dark matter, although the nature of which still remains unknown to us. The so-called Weakly Interacting Massive Particles, or WIMPs, is the most popular dark matter candidate, and the hunt for it has been carrying out for more than two decades. DarkSide project, as one of various experiments in the world, aims to directly detect the WIMPs-nucleon scattering signal using a large scale dual phase liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC). In this talk, I will introduce the current effort we are making via a 50-kg LArTPC running at Gran Sasso Underground Laboratory (LNGS), Italy. Then I will also present the perspectives of the next stage, DarkSide-20k, a 20-ton LArTPC, which is in a good shape of research and development in all aspects.
