MaxRep is a weightlifting tracking device that comes with fitness plans built into it. Currently, MaxRep is capable of providing one workout plan, which is the “5 By 5 Workout Plan”. The MaxRep Fitness Tracker allows the user to simply magnetically stick the tracker onto the side of most metal weights or clamp it onto any bars, and it will keep track of their workout. It counts the number of sets and reps you do for each workout in each workout plan available on the device. Future iterations of MaxRep will include more workout plans available for the user to choose from, as well as the ability to preview and store that data onto their phones via a mobile application. So, how many reps can you do?

Recent droughts have brought attention to a global water crisis that has been brewing for decades. Lono Drop addresses one of water-wasting’s main culprits—excessively long showers. The solution is a showerhead attachment that uses LED lighting to measure how many minutes you've been showering and provides signaling when to turn off the water to help conserve water.

The Lono Drop device is activated by waving your hand underneath the device at the beginning of a shower. Initially the device glows green and changes colors to indicate the elapsed time; when the device flashes red, you have exceeded your allotted time and need to turn off the water and exit the shower. Even young children can understand and operate the device. They estimate the device could allow an individual to save 5,000 gallons of water annually.

Nine students from the colleges of engineering, business administration and hospitality management developed the product.

We created Desk-E as part of our Senior Project. During this project, we were challenged to design a unique innovation that will help improve the campus community in some way. As college students, one of our biggest struggles is having enough desk space in-class. The desks are too small and can rarely fit more than a book or notepad. We decided to use this opportunity to solve a problem that pertains to students worldwide.

Desk-E is the first portable, rotatable, desk-extension on the market. You can use it to make your desk bigger, or as a stand-alone desk. Schools face a huge constraint on classroom space along with a need to fit many desks into a class. Couple this with all the different things students need to have on their desk to be productive in class, and you’ll understand why we invented the Desk-E.

Blu-Finder is a USB flash drive that contains Bluetooth, which will help alert the owner if he or she forgets the device. The device will also provide a locator function with the help of a cell phone application for Android users. The application will also serve as a shortcut to the user’s Bluetooth setting and provide a selection of tones and vibrating sounds. The USB Bluetooth device will also come with a rechargeable battery that will charge via USB plug-in.

The goal of this company is to develop and commercialize a product or a service. The company is led by students with different majors including science, engineering and business. The students would work together as one big development team and share their knowledge to develop a successful product. This collaboration will also help the students gain experience in entrepreneurship and develop their teamwork skills. Poly Presents is the ultimate testimony of “learn by doing” philosophy.

Poly Tickets is an online ticketing merchant and a subsidiary of Payment Portal Corporation. Transactions are processed safely with great ease and fluidity. Poly Tickets offers merchants (event promoters & planners) the service of creating their own unique event page and using Payment Portal’s payment process to handle ticket transactions securely. Poly Tickets aims to service every type of small, local event that averages around 500 attendees. This includes, but is not limited to: live music, performing arts, fairs, ethnic festivals, award shows, public speeches, dance recitals, and symphonies. Non-profit organizations, school organizations, professional associations, clubs, groups, and fraternities can use Poly Tickets to create their event and sell their tickets. Poly Tickets is not strictly servicing events, however. The site can also be used to collect donations. Poly Tickets does not demand any monthly or one-time fees for merchants and the consumer is charged a very inexpensive service fee that is pro-rated based on the expected number of attendees. The higher the number of expected attendees, the lower the service fee for the consumer.

Poly Tickets first aims to service organizations, professional associations, departments, clubs, groups, and fraternities campus-wide building a solid client base within Cal Poly Pomona. However, Poly Tickets will not just be exclusive to the school. Other collectives from other campuses from the CSU & UC systems, and Community Colleges can use Poly Tickets as well. Even private collectives outside of school can use Poly Tickets’ services to meet their ticketing/donation needs.

Bronco Paint, manufactured in campus labs by Cal Poly Pomona students, is a washable tempera paint, which uses water-soluble binding agents to secure color pigments. This product was designed to be antibacterial by the use of magnesium oxide (MgO). 50 gallons of regular, untreated paint were donated by the Chemistry Department. The mixing of the MgO with the paint was executed by Bud Jenkins along with the students of the senior project class in the mixers located on campus in the paint lab.

The function of the paint is to prevent further spreading of bacteria and retard the grow-fluidth of bacteria. We have researched the effects of MgO based on the U.S. Patent No.:7,335,808 B2 and concluded that biological agents such as toxins and bacteria may be destroyed by contact with metal oxides such as MgO. Based on our research, we have determined that Bronco Paint is an eco-friendly and safe product for everyone to use and enjoy.

Bronco Time is a very unique product that was designed and created in the labs at Cal Poly Pomona. Poly Presents, the company behind Bronco Time, is comprised of top-level business and engineering students.

Unlike a majority of clocks, Bronco Time doesn’t tell time by the use of observable ticking hands. Instead, our product is innovative because it indicates time by the sweeping movement of metallic balls along the clock perimeter. Additionally two pegs are located along the bottom of the back end of the clock. This will allow Bronco Time to tilt back, which makes the clock face easily observable from most angles.

The Bronco Globe was designed and created in the labs at Cal Poly Pomona. One word to describe this product is- unique. Inside each Bronco Globe is a fluid which is a viscoplastic material. This material behaves as a fluid when forces are applied and as a solid when no forces are present. The snow globes are manufactured by the students.

The Chemical And Materials Engineering department is currently working on several research projects involving this material for uses in biology and paints & coatings. In purchasing the Bronco Globe, you hold a piece of current Cal Poly Pomona research. The Cal Poly Snow Globes were developed and commercialized by the first project cohort in 2009. Within 3 weeks of its introduction to the market, Cal Poly Snow Globes sold out.
