Diversity and Inclusion

Project SUCCESS assists male students of color at Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) with a strategic focus on African American, Latino, Native, and Southeast Asian male first-time freshmen. Through mentorship and intentional connections with CPP faculty, staff, alumni and the community, Project SUCCESS helps students successfully navigate the educational process.

The program also contributes to the CSU Graduation Initiative 2025, which focuses on increasing 4-year graduation rates and eliminating the achievement gap between underrepresented minority students and their peer counterparts.

The AASC is committed to assisting African/African American/Black college students in successfully completing their degree programs. It provides retention and outreach programs and services that stimulate growth and development. The AASC is dedicated to preparing students for leadership and promotes academic excellence.

The Center holds numerous events throughout the year, and sponsors the Diversity Ambassador Program, where students link theory and practice by learning about important events in African American history, and then visiting historic sites across the country connected to that history.

The APISC promotes the retention, education and celebration of the Asian and Pacific Islander community at Cal Poly Pomona. The center hosts events throughout the year, including a large Lunar New Year celebration, and offers support through workshops and mentorship.

The César E. Chávez Center for Higher Education is committed to increasing the outreach, recruitment, retention, graduation and cultural pride of Chicanxs/Latinxs at Cal Poly Pomona. The center participates in a Latinx Success Series, the La Familia volunteer program and hosts important campus events including Dia de los Muertos and Raza Grad.

The Native American Student Center supports the academic achievement and personal success of Native American students while promoting traditional culture at Cal Poly Pomona. Through programming and awareness initatives, the NASC can:

  • Provide support to Native American students at CPP.
  • Serve as resource to campus community on Native American culture and issues.
  • Create innovative learning-centered opportunities to develop students to become leaders in a global society.

The Pride Center provides education, advocacy, support and a safe space for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning (LGBTIQQ) and ally community at Cal Poly Pomona. The center serves the campus community by promoting empowerment and social justice on topics of sexual orientation and gender identity.

In addition to providing support and resources, the Pride Center hosts events throughout the year.

The office of Inclusive Excellence is committed to the urgent and ongoing work of creating and sustaining an inclusive campus climate in which all are welcomed, respected and our diversity is valued. 

As part of this initiative, CPP Listens, serves as a coordinated point of contact to capture instances that promote our campus value of inclusivity, as well as those that fall short. Submissions will be used to identify patterns, to recognize and celebrate acts of inclusion, to develop strategies for community improvement where needed and to appropriately address those incidents in a timely and transparent fashion.

The WRC promotes gender equity through empowerment and consciousness raising, and strives to establish a brave space which encourages awareness and discussion of womxn’s issues. The center provides programs, workshops, referrals, group support and opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Additionally, the WRC works to create an environment where womxn-identified individuals can flourish while advocating for a greater understanding of the impact of gender in our institution and in our society.

Undocumented Students Services supports the holistic success (academic, personal, professional) of undocumented students at Cal Poly Pomona. Its purpose is to educate the community about current issues and to convene campus allies in a dialogue of student success.

USS and the Bronco Dreamers Resource Center hosts numerous workshops and events for students to ask questions and get support, in addition to legal services provided by the CSU free of charge. USS additionally supports scholarships and other mentorship programs for undocumented students.

The Veterans Resource Center provides veterans and military personnel a centralized source for information, support, guidance and community. As a military-friendly campus, the VRC offers a dynamic and supportive academic community and hands-on opportunities for leadership, academic and personal growth.

The VRC offers a number of services to student veterans and dependents, including:

  • Introduction to veteran-specific services
  • Computers and free printing
  • Referrals to campus and off-campus programs and services
  • Peer support, counseling and guidance
  • Assistance with navigating policies and processes
