Dr. Rigoberto Marquez Named Director of T.R.E.E.

Dr. Rigoberto Marquez has been named Director of Centers for Transformation, Retention, Equity, and Empowerment (TREE). Dr. Marquez begins his appointment Monday, October 3rd, 2022. He will oversee and lead all campus Cultural and Identity Centers. Dr. Marquez is an integrative learning scholar, community centered researcher and leader in race, education, and social learning. He joins us after completing an executive fellowship with Stanford Student Affairs where he developed a leadership program centering principles of equity, justice, and social transformation with leaders across campus.
He earned his Ph.D. in Education from the School of Education and Information Studies of the University of California, Los Angeles, a master’s in Education, Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Maryland, bachelor’s degrees in Critical Gender Studies and Sociology from the University of California, San Diego, and an associate degree from Santa Monica College. Dr. Marquez is a proud native of Los Angeles, a product of California’s public schools, a son of immigrants and the first in his family to pursue a college degree.
