Bronco Card

Bronco ID

The Bronco Card is the official Cal Poly Pomona photo identification card for all Cal Poly Pomona faculty, staff, students and affiliates. It can also be used for dining services and convenience store locations, as well as access to campus services, buildings, and laboratories. 

Authorized Use

The Bronco Card is a non-transferable card and is the property of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, CA 91768.

Photo Guidelines

  • You may only upload .jpg, .png or .gif images.
  • This picture is for identification purposes. The picture must clearly identify you (and only you) in the photo.
  • You must look straight-forward, in full-face view directly facing the camera, with a neutral facial expression and both eyes open (No side profiles. No poses, hand gestures, or props are allowed).
  • The photo must be taken in front of a plain white or off-white background (Please avoid textured walls or doors as the background).
  • Taken in clothing that you normally wear on a daily basis.
    • Hats or head coverings that obscures the hair or hairline are not allowed, unless worn daily for a religious purpose.
    • Your face must be fully visible, and the head covering (nor garments or jewelry of any kind) may not cast any shadows on your face.
    • Sunglasses, headphones, wireless hands-free devices, or similar items are not allowed.
    • If you normally wear glasses, a hearing device, or similar articles, they may be worn in the photo.
    • Dark glasses or glasses with tinted lenses are not allowed.
  • Ensure the photo is cropped at least the space from slightly above your head to the middle of your chest (i.e. similar to a Passport or Identification photo).
  • Borders or filters are not allowed on the photo.
  • There should be a definite contrast between you and the background.
  • The photograph must be in color.
  • Please avoid red eye or flash reflection from glasses or contact lenses.

Get Your Bronco Card!

Go to the Photo ID Unit* and bring all of the following:

  • Government-issued photo ID**
  • Bronco Number

The Photo ID Unit will need to verify in its database that you are an active student of the University.

**Government-issued photo identification can be a driver's license, state identification card, military ID, passport, etc.

The cost of your initial Bronco Card is covered in your Orientation fee.

Why should you get a Bronco Card?

This card entitles you to the following privileges:

  • Use of computing resources
  • Use of the University Library
  • Use of Health Services
  • Access to recreational and fitness facilities on campus
  • Use as a debit card for on-campus purchases
  • Use as identification for classroom and testing purposes

Get Your Bronco Card!

1. Go to the Cashier’s Office* and pay $5.00 for your initial Bronco Card.

2. Go to the Photo ID Unit* and bring all of the following:
  • Receipt
  • Government-issued photo ID**
  • Bronco Number

The Photo ID Unit will need to verify in its database that you are an active student of the University.

Faculty/Staff do not pay for Bronco Cards.

If you work as a University employee but discontinue your employment and become a student, you will need to replace your "Faculty/Staff" card with one that reads "Student." There is a $5.00 fee for your first "Student" card, and a $15.00 fee for subsequent replacements.

Note: Student Assistants, Graduate Assistants, and Teaching Associates are classified as "Students," not "Faculty/Staff."

Students

Strict privacy rules govern the release of information concerning individual students. The Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act, commonly known as FERPA, makes mandatory the protection of students' privacy in regard to the educational records of current and former Cal Poly Pomona students. Certain information, referred to as "Directory Information", may be disclosed to individuals other than the owner of the record without prior consent. For more information on Cal Poly Pomona's Directory Information, refer to the Registrar's Office.

Photograph

Your photograph, and any other personal information not considered "directory information" can be released only to an employee of the University who has a legitimate educational need to know, certain specific government agencies, or to other individuals only if the student signs a written release.

University Employees and Affiliates

Your photograph is protected by the Information Practices Act and will not be released unless permitted or required by law.

Privacy Restriction

Your photograph will be used to create your Bronco Card. Its uses will be subject to the University Policy for Usage of Computing Resources and Privacy Rules on Confidentiality of Student Information.

Students

To report a lost or stolen card, please log on to Bronco Bucks. You can also log on to Bronco Bucks to report your card found.

To obtain a replacement card, please go to the Photo ID Unit* and bring all of the following:

  • Cashier's receipt for $15.00 from the Cashier's Office*
  • Government-issued photo ID**
  • Bronco Number

Faculty / Staff / Affiliates
