Tradeshows, Industry Speakers, and Site Visits
Each year the senior retail students go on an actual buying trip to Magic Market Week, the largest global market week for contemporary men’s and women’s apparel and footwear. It is the most comprehensive sourcing destination for fashion buyers and brands in the world. AMM students are sourcing merchandise for their retail stores.In AMM we love to bring the industry to the classroom and take the classroom to the industry!

A number of AMM courses utilize industry tradeshows, speakers or site visits to local businesses and events as part of their experiential learning approach. They help make a real connection between what you learn in the classroom, what is happening in the business world, and what is expected of you as a future professional.
Get the inside story from industry professionals, including company presidents, marketing executives, buyers, product development directors, sourcing specialists, human resource managers, and market researchers. Executives enjoy sharing their experience and career perspectives with students. Our alumnae are among the many professionals who donate their time. They provide a true portal to your future as an industry professional.

Many brands (Champion, Dr. Martens, Happy Socks, Zumiez eg.) took the time to talk to the students about career path and choices and brand management/ brand building.
The students also focused on learning how the brands present themselves and will translate their learning into AMM499 Apparel Brand Development.
John Bernard from the AMM Board also joined the tour and connected the students to several brands.
