Crisis Assistance for Students

IF YOU ARE HAVING A LIFE-THREATENING MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY AT ANY TIME, PLEASE CALL 909-869-3070 (UNIVERSITY POLICE IF ON-CAMPUS) OR 911 (IF OFF-CAMPUS).

Crisis Assistance During Business Hours

Walk-In Crisis Visit:

Examples of a crisis may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Thoughts of harming yourself or others, or experiencing hallucinations.
  • Experiencing a recent trauma, such as the death of a loved one, sexual or physical assault, or being the victim of a crime.
  • Concerns about the safety of another student.

Crisis counseling is available to currently enrolled CPP students on weekdays from 8am to 4:30pm in our office located in Bronco Bookstore Building, Room 116.

What to expect:

You will need to inform the front desk personnel that you are experiencing a mental health crisis. You will be asked to complete brief paperwork to help us understand your situation. One of our mental health counselors will meet with you to assess your immediate needs and may refer you to additional resources or services as needed. Walk-in crisis visits are addressed on a first come, first served basis. You may be asked to wait for an available crisis counselor.

Crisis Assistance After-Hours

After-Hours Phone Consultation:

If you are experiencing a crisis outside of business hours, you can reach a crisis counselor by phone, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, including weekends, holidays, and breaks.

  • Call (909) 869-3220, and press “2” when prompted to speak with a crisis counselor.
  • A CAPS counselor may follow up with you the next business day to offer additional support or resources.

If you are experiencing a life threatening emergency:

  • On-campus: call University Police (909) 869-3070
  • Off-campus: call 911
