Since graduating with his Ph.D. in Decision Sciences & Information Systems from the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University in 1991, he has been on the faculty of the Anderson Graduate School of Management at University of California-Riverside, the Fisher School of Business at the Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio), and a visiting distinguished professor with the Antai School of Management & Economics at the Shanghai Jiaotong University (Shanghai, China).
Dr. Rolland was the inaugural director of the University of California’s Heckmann International Center of Entrepreneurial Management, in Palm Desert, California, and has served as both Department Chair and Associate Dean in the Anderson Graduate School of Management at University of California at Riverside.
Erik’s research embodies a broad range of management and engineering areas, electronic commerce, service science, and modeling of complex technology and management problems. He has published more than 70 articles in academic journals and texts on information systems, technology management, operations research, leadership, and strategy. Dr. Rolland’s research is used by several large companies worldwide in their management practices, and Erik has consulted with a large number of major organizations in the United States, Canada, Asia, and Europe.
Erik is the recipient of the 2009 American Institute for Certified Public Accountant’s (AICPA) Management Accounting Research Fellowship for his work on Enterprise Risk Management, and the 2011 IBM Faculty Award for his work on understanding patent value.
Erik has over 25 years of international consulting and industry experience from organizations in a variety of industries, such as electronics, software, transportation, healthcare, telecommunications, banking, energy, oil exploration, fashion, resource management, and local and state governments. His experience covers a wide range of management and engineering areas, across organizations, cultures, and continents. He continually enjoys learning from delivering management courses and executive seminars to various audiences and organizations in the Americas, Europe, and in Asia. Erik also spends his time serving on the board of several organizations.
