Cyber Defense Team Qualifies Second For Regionals
A group of Cal Poly Pomona students qualified for the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) Western Regionals after finishing second the past Saturday.
CCDC is a cybersecurity series that focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting network infrastructure. Scoring relies on a team’s ability to detect and respond to outside threats while maintaining existing services.
The Western Regionals qualifier was held virtually with all eight colleges logging on from their respective campuses for the Jan. 30 event.
UC Berkley took the top honors, followed by Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Cal Poly Pomona team will go on to the Western Regionals scheduled to take place March 18-19.
Cal Poly Pomona’s CCDC teams represented the west in the national competition for three consecutive years and four times in five years between 2009 and 2013.
