Hello there my name is Arturo Gutierrez and I am excited to be one of your peer advisors. I am a 3rd year Liberal Studies Major with minors in Chicano Studies and Mathematics. I switched into Liberal Studies from Mechanical Engineering and will be graduating Spring 2017. After I am done with my Bachelor I am planning to do my Single Subject Credential in Math here at Cal Poly Pomona with the end goal of being a Math Teacher in high school. My time here at Cal Poly Pomona has all gone into being involved. I am really big on my academics and community service. If I am not in class I am helping out my community. I run a K-12th grade tutoring program and also am an AVID Tutor at Nogales High School in La Puente, CA. I look forward to meeting every single one of you and will do my best to help you out.

Welcome to another year at Cal Poly. My name is Adriana Urrutia and I have the amazing job of being one of your Peer Advisors this year. I am currently a Junior, with this being my third year at Cal Poly Pomona. I am a Liberal Studies Major with a Minor in Chicano/ Latino Studies. After I graduate with my Bachelors’ Degree I will continue my education at Cal Poly to get my Multiple Subject Credential with a Bilingual Emphasis. I also recently added my minor because I want to learn about my culture as a Latina, and also learn about other social issues that would help me as I work in this diverse country. My ultimate goal is to be an Elementary School teacher in Southern California. Our campus has many clubs and activities that every student can enjoy. Since I came to Cal Poly as a freshman, I was able to use my first year to search for things to do on campus and I continue to find more activities as the years have passed. I highly recommend trying different activities and finding the one, or more, that calls to your heart and career goals. I look forward to seeing you all stop by our office and being able to provide any help that you may need. Here is a quick tip to start with; have fun and study hard.

Saul Vera

Double Major: Ethnic & Women's Studies, Women's Studies concentration
Philosophy Major with a focus in Law and Society
Academic Level: Senior
College Activities: GEMS Club, Peace Corps
Hi, I'm Saul and I'm going into my senior year at Cal Poly. Over my years I have switched majors twice and have finally settled down in something I feel passionate about, GEMS and Philosophy. In my years here, I have learned a lto about what resources Cal Poly - especially CEIS - has to offer me while on my journey to reach my goal of eventually becomming a professor at a university. I enjoy being active on campus in clubs like GEMS and QSJ. I have also been a Peace Corps ambassador and part of the Montecito Council. That being said, I am excited to have this opportunity to help other students find their way around campus as they pursue their own journeys by sharing my experiences and learning from yours.
