Pomona Valley Review Poetry Reading, Open Mic, & Art Walk

Apr 10, 2017 6:00 PM to Apr 10, 2017 8:00 PM at BSC Ursa Minor 2135

Join the Pomona Valley Review (PVR), an online literary journal run by CPP students and faculty, for an evening of poetry and art.

The event will kick off with PVR editors Ryan Leack and Christopher Baarstad introducing featured poets Catherine Kyle and James Hickson. Kyle holds a PhD in English from Western Michigan University, teaches at the College of Western Idaho, and is the author and illustrator of the hybrid-genre collection Feral Domesticity, among other works. Hickson, a Pomona native, has appeared in numerous books and magazines for over five decades, having published multiple poems in several issues of PVR.

After the readings, PVR poets and editors will host a Q&A session.

During the open mic and art walk portion of the evening, students who sign up ahead of time will be invited to show their work. Students who would like to perform during the open mic session should sign up for a time slot and then email to theeditors@pomonavalleyreview.com their full name, the titles of up to three poems they are going to read, and the poems themselves. Those who want to participate in the art walk should drop off their art to the main office of the Department of English and Foreign Languages, in building 24 room 214 by Monday, April 10, at 3:00 PM. Then, they should email to theeditors@pomonavalleyreview.com their full name, the title of the piece, and a digital copy of the piece (if available).

Attendees will be invited to select their favorite poems and art pieces to be included in the next issue of PVR.

This event is free and open to the public, but there is a $7 parking fee for those not affiliated with Cal Poly Pomona. For additional information, email Dr. Albalá Pelegrín at martaa@cpp.edu.
