Salvadorian-American writer and poet Carolina Rivera Escamilla will read from her fiction and participate in a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Álvaro Huerta (Urban & Regional Planning and Ethnic & Women's Studies).

Rivera Escamilla is an educator, writer, and documentarian. She was born in El Salvador, went into exile in the 1980s, and completed her studies in English Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing at the University of California, Los Angeles. Director and producer of the 2011 documentary film Manlio Argueta: Poets and Volcanoes, she is also a cultural promoter in Los Angeles. She authored the story collection ...after..., published in 2015.
