EML Students Present at the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Conference

On April 6, 2019, six EML students successfully presented their research at the Southern California Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese conference, held at Pasadena City College. Their research was the result of their capstone project on Spanish Linguistics, conducted under the guidance of Dr. Amàlia Llombart:

  • Jafet Rosales—El uso de y usted en bilingües
  • Ruby García—El uso de arcaísmos entre estudiantes de lengua de herencia en los Estados Unidos
  • Esther Holzmeister—Experiencias de los estudiantes que participaron en el programa ELD Standard
  • Ana Higuera—Uso de imperfecto y condicional en oraciones hipotéticas en estudiantes de español como herencia
  • Amalia Y. González Santana—El papel del sentimiento de vergüenza en un estudiante de español como segunda lengua
  • Melanie Ortiz—El uso de préstamos léxicos en hispanohablantes
