Faculty Qualifications

Academically qualified is defined by the policies and procedures of the university’s Retention, Tenure and Promotion process as informed by the Department of Political Science’s RTP policy approved by the College of Letters, Arts and Social Science. In brief the standards require an advanced degree in political science, public administration and/or related field, peer and student evaluations, participation in the profession through paper presentation at appropriate associations, publications and/or community service.

Professionally qualified is defined by the policies and standards of the university’s adjunct professor guidelines and administered by the chair of the PLS Retention Tenure and Promotion committee. In brief the standards require an advanced degree, peer reviews and/or letters of recommendation, student evaluations if appropriate, ongoing managerial and/or program responsibility in public and/or not-for-profit organization and/or participation in a local, regional and/or national professional association in a scholarly or professional capacity.
