Locker Rental Policy

The music building houses approximately 150 lockers for student storage of instruments, classroom related materials and personal belongings. These lockers are available for all music majors and non-majors who pay the $15 music fee (payable at the Student Accounts & Cashiering office) each term they wish to use a locker.

Renting a Locker

If you are a music major requesting a locker, simply come to the department Technician’s office (24-201) to be matched with a locker. If you are a not a music major, be sure to have proof of payment of the music fee before coming to the Technician’s office.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am a non-music major and have already paid the music fee for an instrument. Do I need to pay the fee again?

No. The music fee covers both an instrument and locker, subject to availability.

I play multiple instruments. Can I reserve multiple lockers?

In the interest of allowing as many students as possible, individuals requesting multiple lockers should wait until the initial demand for lockers has subsided before requesting additional lockers.

If I rent an instrument from the department am I guaranteed the use of a locker?

Unfortunately not. All lockers rentals are given out first-come-first-serve with no preference to instrument or major. Demand for large lockers is high, so if you have a large instrument (low woodwinds, brass and strings, oversized guitar cases, drum set, etc.) please see the Technician as early as possibly.

What size lockers are available?

The department has multiple sized locker for all sized instruments. The department Technician will attempt to match everyone with the appropriate sized locker.

Do I need to supply my own lock?

No. The department will provide the necessary lock and combination. This lock must be used. Any unauthorized locks will be removed by the department Technician.

How long can I keep the locker?

All lockers are rented out on a single term basis. You will receive information from the department Technician via email towards the end of the term on how to renew a locker rental.
