Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Cal Poly English Language Institute (CPELI) is to provide exemplary instruction for students with diverse cultural backgrounds and linguistic ability in English with exposure to American culture that advances academic, professional, and personal goals.
We are proud to have a long history dedicated to preparing students to reach their goals since 1991. Having served a wide diversity of students since our founding, we believe our success comes from the dedication, experience, and professional expertise of our teachers and staff.
At CPELI, we focus on providing the best educational experience for students through intensive language instruction, personalized student support, enriching activities, and cross-cultural events. Students receive instruction from highly qualified teachers at the top of their field who tailor lessons to students' learning needs, as well as provide remedial help when needed for students to attain satisfactory language proficiency.
Students who complete level 5 receive a certificate of completion that can be used in place of a TOEFL or IELTS score to apply to Cal Poly Pomona (undergraduate programs only). Students also benefit from an additional course to prepare them to take the TOEFL and IELTS tests.
No matter what a student's goals are - whether improving their English, preparing for university study, experiencing American culture and life, participating in university campus life, meeting new friends from different countries - CPELI strives to help students meet these goals, all while enjoying the journey with our students along the way.
