The University Injury Illness Prevention Program is designed to identify the different hazards to which an employee may be exposed during the course of conducting their regular job duties and outlining different measures that can be implemented to either correct hazards or mitigate the risk of resulting in an accident or injury but also prevent recurrance.
The University Heat Illness Prevention Program is designed to establish requirements for the prevention, treatment and response of Outdoor Heat Illness to any and all employees especially those who work outside during a substantial portion of their work shift.
The University Lockout Tagout (Blockout) program establishes requirements for containing or de-energizing engergy sources when performing service or maintenance on any equipment that could cause injury by the unexpected start-up of equipment and/or release of stored energy.
The available policies and procedures regarding ergonomics were designed to identify ergonomic related injuries and offer alternative ways of performing repetitive tasks that are less likely to cause injury or discomfort.
The University Respiratory Protection Program establishes procedures for the safe use of respirators and was designed for University employees who during the course of their normal duties are exposed (or could be exposed) to hazardous substances or atmospheres that may adversely affect their health and/or safety. This program not only establishes provisions and equipment for different environments but presents administrative control measures and requirements for which employees need respiratory protection and when protection is required.
The University Hearing Conservation Program was designed to provide workers, supervisors, and management with an understanding of the seriousness or the threat posed by industrial noise and to explain what departments must do, by law, to control occupational noise exposure.
Driving on campus or on university business requires employees to take defensive driving courses as well as powered cart training if a powered cart will be used. Drivers must also enroll in the DMV Pull Notice Program administered by Risk Management.
Employees are characterized as Faculty, Staff and Student Assistants. All others are classified as students and volunteers.
