Submit approved Project or Thesis to bronco scholar by the deadline

Electronic Project and Thesis  Submission Checklist

Your project or thesis will be included in our institutional repository Bronco Scholar, which means your work will be more visible and available on the web. Below is a checklist of what you will have to do to submit your project or thesis to Bronco Scholar:

Submission Process:

  • If you have applied for graduation within a certain time frame, you will receive an email automatically at your cpp.edu email detailing the steps for electronic submission. If you do not have this email or cannot find it, request access to a collection for Bronco Scholar by following the instructions here. Once you have submitted the form, login to Bronco Scholar with your Cal Poly username and password. NOTE: It can take up to 72 hours to approve your request, so please request early! You will receive an email that you have been added to your collection in Bronco Scholar.
  • Attend a project and thesis submission workshop at the University Library and get a walkthrough of the requirements for electronic thesis submission. Dates and a sign-up for current semester workshops are available here.
  • All theses and projects submitted to Bronco Scholar must include tags for accessibility before being loaded to the repository. A tutorial for accessibility can be found on the Bronco Scholar about page or click here. For questions about accessibility, don't hesitate to contact the Bronco Scholar team.
  • Finalize all content in your thesis or project before submitting to Bronco Scholar. Once you submit to Bronco Scholar, you will not be able to make any further changes to your Project or Thesis.
  • Export your document as a PDF. Please title your file name with the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstname_ThesisORProjectYEAR.pdf. For instance, if your name was John Smith and you were writing a graduate project, you would title it SmithJohn_Project2015.pdf
  • Add tags to your document in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat Pro and correct all accessibility errors.  If you have any trouble with the accessibility step, please contact the Bronco Scholar team.
  • Submit your thesis or project to Bronco Scholar. Please see this tutorial on submitting to Bronco Scholar. This video tutorial will show you how to login to Bronco Scholar and where to submit. There is also a PDF with step by step instructions at this site. Please note: your signature page should be included in your thesis or project, but please do not scan in signatures. We will accept your submission with just the unsigned signature page included. Additionally, if you have a blank page at the start of your document, please delete it. Please attach the Word and PDF files and any other supplemental material. If you wrote your thesis or project in LaTeX, please attach the entire LaTeX file as a ZIP. Include any graphics, figures, tables, and your class files(LaTex only).
  • Agree to the distribution license at the end of the submission process as the last step. You will see a confirmation screen that your submission is under review.

If you have any issues during the electronic submission process, you may email the Bronco Scholar staff at broncoscholar@cpp.edu

Your thesis or project will be made live in Bronco Scholar once they receive notification that you have submitted the proper paperwork. Please note that your submission is in partial completion of your degree and it being made live in Bronco Scholar does not mean you have been awarded your degree. At this point, you will receive an email confirming that your submission is live. If you would like to file a copyright registration, information is available from the U.S. Copyright Office.
