Welcome Week Family FAQ

When is move-in Day?

Sunday, September 17, 2017 for students participating in Welcome Week. Other students not attending Welcome Week will move in on Wendnesday 20, 2017.

When can we begin moving belongings into the building and how much time do we have to move my student into their rooms?
Move in begins at 9:00 AM on Sunday, September 17th and lasts until 3:00 PM that afternoon. To prevent long lines and ease with traffic on campus, each student is given a check in appointment time of 9:00am, 10:00am or 11:00am – they can start moving in at that time. Welcome Week activities will begin at 4:00 PM.

Can I help my student move in?
Yes! We encourage you to come and help your student move into their new building. We have a Family Orientation planned for all attending parents, family members, and guests as well.

Can I stay with my student during Welcome Week events?
We unfortunately do not allow parents and families to participate in Welcome Week along with their students.

Where can I go to get more information about University Housing?
There will be two Family Orientation sessions offered on move-in day to answer any questions you may have about University Housing. You may attend one session located in the residential halls or the residential suites - each session offers the same information. There will be key speakers discussing safety, policy, food, and more. Afterwards there will be a Q&A session. If you have more questions, please feel free to visit the University Housing website or the Welcome Week website.

Is food provided during move in?
No, students will not be fed until later that night at Opening Ceremonies around 5:00 PM, so be sure that your student has snacks or eats during move in.

Where can I park on move-in day?
Residential Halls:

Parking will be open in parking lots F2 and F1 for the halls. Carts for move in will be available to students and families to check out. The two buildings furthest from the parking lot, Cedritos and Palmitas, will have limited 30 minute parking available in front of each building.

Residential Suites:

Parking will be open in parking lots B and P for the suites. Carts for move in will be available to students and families to check out. Lot Q will be used as 30 minute parking.

Where can my student get books and school supplies on campus?
Free time will be available to the students at designated times right after move-in and during Welcome Week. At these times, they are welcome to go to the Bronco Bookstore to buy all their books and supplies on campus.

Where is the health center?
The Student Health Center and Student Wellness Center are located in Building 46, up the hill on University Drive next to parking lot J. Patient parking is available.
