Classification & Compensation

The Classification & Compensation unit, with guidance provided by the California State University (CSU) Chancellor's Office, works in partnership with the colleges and the administrative units to provide quality services and support in the fair and consistent evaluation of jobs and equitable compensation.

Services provided and/or administered by the Classification & Compensation unit include:

  • Administer all pay programs for staff bargaining unit and Management Personnel Plan (MPP) positions.

  • Recommend and determine the hiring ranges for MPP recruitments.

  • Conduct desk audits and perform analyses to determine the correct classifications for current positions.

  • Review job descriptions in order to classify all new positions, temporary emergency positions, and positions for temporary reassignments.

  • Consult with management on appropriate compensation and classification guidelines and procedures.
