Summer 2019 4/10 Work Schedule
Summer Work Schedule Information - June 3, 2019 through July 26, 2019
Cal Poly Pomona transitions from a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (5/40 schedule), to a compressed 4-day summer work schedule of Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (4/10 schedule). The 4/10 schedule for Summer 2019 will be observed June 3, 2019 through July 26, 2019.
For Summer 2019 there will not be any weeks wherein we revert back to the 5/40, as has occurred in prior summer 4/10 observances. The standard campus work week of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. will resume again on Monday, July 29, 2019.
4/10 Schedule for Summer 2019
In a 4/10 work schedule, the 40 hours will be accomplished by working 10 hours each day, Monday through Thursday. During the 4/10 Summer Work Schedule it is expected that all campus offices will be open for business with operations Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., to serve students and the public. Friday will not be a regular work day for most campus employees. This work schedule will apply to all full-time, part-time, exempt and non-exempt staff/management employees of Cal Poly Pomona unless exempted based on operational needs of the university, or due to an approved alternate work schedule due to family care, health, or other compelling reasons.
Reducing Our Carbon Footprint and Energy Costs During the Summer Months
The 4/10 summer schedule was first implemented in 2008. The goal then and every summer since implementation (excluding Summer 2018 due to Semester Conversion), has been to reduce energy costs and the university's carbon footprint and provide efficient delivery of summer operations. This is in alignment with our strategic initiatives and plan regarding sustainability. It also provides a gas savings for employees, with one less commute day per week.
